Cookies and similar technologies

How MedPros uses cookies, local storage and similar technologies on medpros.pk and the student portal — for sign‑in, payments, device approval, course progress, analytics and preferences.

Important

Plain-English: we use cookies for things that keep you signed in, remember your basket at checkout, recognise the device you approved for playback, and measure which parts of the course work. We do not sell this data.

Overview

This notice explains how MedPros (medpros.pk) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use the student portal (including the v2 interface). It is written for learners and doctors in Pakistan using typical desktop and mobile browsers on Wi‑Fi or mobile data.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also rely on related technologies — local storage, session identifiers and short‑lived tokens — where they help keep your account secure, remember choices, or let us measure how the product performs.

Categories we use

We group cookies into four buckets so you can reason about them quickly.

  • Strictly necessary — Keep you signed in, carry your CSRF token, remember which checkout step you are on, store the approved device token, queue flash messages, and protect against abuse. These cannot be turned off without breaking core features.
  • Preferences — Remember small UI choices such as language, collapsed menus and the last dashboard tab you used. They make the experience smoother but are not essential.
  • Performance and analytics — Help us see how pages perform, which lectures buffer, where mock attempts fail, and which help pages get read. Where possible the data is aggregated or anonymised.
  • Marketing and attribution — Only set if you opt in, or when you click a campaign link. They measure whether an ad or referral brought you to MedPros. We do not use them to build cross‑site advertising profiles.

Specific cookies set by MedPros

Exact names may change as we update the platform; your browser's developer tools will always show the current list. The important ones are:

  • laravel_session / medpros_session — strictly necessary. Keeps you signed in to your account.
  • XSRF‑TOKEN — strictly necessary. Protects forms (login, checkout, profile updates) from cross‑site request forgery.
  • device_token — strictly necessary. Recognises the device you approved for video playback so we can enforce device limits.
  • v2_recent_courses — preference. Remembers the last courses you looked at so the home page can show a "Pick up where you left off" rail. Expires after 60 days.
  • v2_auth_redirect — strictly necessary, short‑lived. Remembers where to return you after login or registration (for example back to a checkout page you shared by link).
  • locale — preference. Stores your chosen language when we offer more than one.

Third‑party cookies we may encounter

We embed a small number of third‑party services where they are needed to run a feature. Each has its own policy:

  • Payment processors and partner merchants — set cookies while you complete a card or wallet payment.
  • Zoom or similar live‑class providers — set cookies when you join a scheduled cohort call.
  • Google Maps — used on the contact page; Google sets its own cookies when the map loads.
  • WhatsApp and social links — if you click through, those services set their own cookies outside our control.

How long cookies last

Cookies either disappear when you close your browser (session cookies) or expire on a fixed date (persistent cookies). MedPros uses session cookies for sign‑in and CSRF protection, and persistent cookies of 14 to 60 days for things like the "recently viewed" rail and approved‑device tokens. We keep lifetimes as short as the feature allows.

Managing cookies on your device

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from signing in, completing a purchase or watching a lecture.

  • Chrome (Android / desktop) — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Safari (iOS / macOS) — Settings → Safari → Privacy & security, or Safari → Preferences → Privacy.
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

If you use MedPros on more than one device — for example a laptop for lectures and a phone for quick quiz attempts — repeat the steps on each device.

Do Not Track and global privacy signals

Our platform does not rely on cross‑site advertising networks, so "Do Not Track" signals do not meaningfully change what we do. We still respect reasonable global privacy controls your browser supports.

Updates

We refresh this notice when we add a new third‑party provider, change a cookie name, or the law changes. The effective date will be updated on the live page.
